Process of Sweater Manufacturing | Step 2 of 8

The second step of how to produce a quality sweater — swatch testing.

STEP 2:

Swatch means the small size of the knitting part. We usually produce a 30*30 size swatch before sample knitting.

Swatch testing aims to better understand the shrinkage of different yarns & patterns in horizontal / weft and vertical/warp directions after washing. This way, we can control the measurement within the required tolerance when enlarging into the required sample measurement.

Key points are,

1- you have to use the correct yarn and yarn size,

2- you have to use the correct GG,

3- you have to test all patterns in the required samples.

4- You must clearly mark the swatch sizes before and after washing. These figures are very important for next.

Step – knitting program and technical file.
