Chapter 25. What types of papers do I have to prepare when importing Christmas Jumpers?

Before embarking on any form of importing Christmas Jumpers, you need to ensure that you have the right documents on hand to avoid any inconveniences. This is one of the complex stages of shipping as it involves a lot of paperwork to do and submit to the appropriate authorities. It’s advisable to always be part of the documentation process. Leaving all the work to your forwarder will result in being left out in knowing what’s happening at what time. Some of the documents you need prepare when importing Christmas Jumpers are not limited to;
- Commercial invoice – A commercial invoice issued by the exporter, which includes details of your ordered Christmas Jumper. Invoice Number, invoice date, trade term, quantity, unit price, total amount, title of both seller and importer;
- Packing List – Issued by Christmas Jumper seller. Shows carton number, details of cargo at each carton, G.W., N.W., Volume, title of both seller and importer;
- Insurance certificate – Your Christmas Jumper need to have insurance to cover them against loss, theft, or damage while in transit. An insurance certificate highlights all the items covered, the type of risks, and the extent of the coverage.
- Bill of Lading – Document issued by a freight carrier to the consignee acknowledging that the Christmas Jumper have been received and will be shipped to a specified destination. Which show ETA, carrier name, title of seller and importer;
- Certificate of Origin – A certificate of origin is issued to facilitate trade and customs requirements. This certificate confirms that the goods have been produced and obtained from a particular country of origin, in our case China.
